HIRED!

So at the end of last week I was overly excited to hear that I've been hired as an IT Help Desk Support Technician for the York Region Police. How cool is that? I'm going to be working for the police!! Not too shabby!!

In all honestly I don't believe that this job will be my super dream job. I highly doubt i'll be able to find that dream job now that I have this gov't job. Why do you ask? Well simple fact that if I stay with the police I can probably retire at the age of 60 or sooner and be well off for the rest of my life.

Any gov't job you're almost guarenteed employment unless you do something REAL stupid like hack into their servers to change the rap sheet for someone. I mean even then you have the Union behind you and could probably cook up some idea on how you're testing the servers security. Who knows that might get you an even better job as a security tester!

But realistically if I stay with this job i'm pretty much set. Provided I don't piss anyone off or do anything real stupid, I should be okay. I really don't know what my dream job would be. Maybe i'll find it in the YRP? I hope to move around in that area and get a bunch of certificates and such.

Still this is a great opportunity!! I'm the type to save for the future but not thinking so much about pension and such. So with them constantly taking out money for my pension that i'll get back later on, is just great. Great job security, Great pay, Not so great location but whatever i'll make do.

Happy Turkey Day!

Gobble Gobble!

It is that time of year again where people gather with friends and family to give thanks! You can give thanks for whatever the heck you want whether it be for friends, health, family, winning the lottery, life, God, anything! So what are YOU thankful for this year?

I think the number 1 answer to that question is going to be friends and family. Not only am I thankful of that, but y'know one of the things i'm thankful for is actually having a job that gives me some sort of income. It's just that in today's day and age, you can't really get around without having currency. I say currency because i'm pretty sure people elsewhere use other things as a form of currency. Haha i'm actually a cheap ass so I horde my money and pretty much be cheap and try and limit my adventures outdoors for which require money. I like the fact of having the money there in case I need it for something important.

Why you little!! Linda has shown me her blog and I kinda want to do the same now. Monkey see, Monkey do! I'm pretty darn sure that I will not be able to keep this up on a daily basis like her, but we will see. Let's begin! (by the way, check her out here www.lady247.wordpress.com)

What's new in the life of Jon? Well, so many things have happened in the last month that this'll become a very long blog. So let's start from the top! Seems like an ideal place to begin a story n'est pas?

Last month I quit my job at CAP REIT. For all of you who don't know, it's a real estate investment trust (REIT) company that buys appartment buildings and rents them out to tenants. One of the many questions that i'm being asked now at work is "why did you leave?". I give a wide range of answers depending on who i'm talking to such as; not enough room to grow, money, management sucks, need to learn new things, etc. I'm going to say that the #1 reason why I left is because I was not appreciated enough over there and taken for granted.

So with that company behind me, I've moved on to a company called Flynn Canada. Little did I know when I was applying for the job that one of my car buddies worked there too! You know they're your car buddy when they recognize your car out in the parking lot. It also helps to drive a distinctive car! But it's been a month since i've been there and it's been great! I feel quite welcomed and there are so many things that i've been learning! New applications, new gadgets and gizmos, I feel like a fat kid in a candy store!

Since I got this job and it's in Mississauga, I felt as if I needed another car. Not only because I don't drive my car during winter, but also because that sort of distance on my kind of car is too much. I love my car too much to put it through that! So, the alternative was to purchase a Honda Civic =)

I picked it up a pretty decent 2004 Honda Civic SI, 5spd sedan with 99,000 kms on it. Took it for a boot yesterday before dropping it off at Honda for my buddy Timmy to do a Safety and E-test on it. Hoping to get it back today and then go to the ministry tomorrow and set it all up! Have it driving by the weekend! That's wishful thinking but if all goes as planned then it just MIGHT work!

Now last but surely not the least, about 4 months ago, I met this awesome girl! Her name is Jess. And for all you people who know me... SHE'S LEGAL ALRIGHT! Seriously don't know when you guys will ever drop that Pedobear name tag that you've associated with me! And it's not like i've ACTUALLY been a Pedobear so HA!

But anyways, she's a great person to be around. She's fun, attractive, and is pretty damn cool! It's a shame that she's still in school right now, and that her parents don't know about me yet (y'know asian moms and their daughters), and we don't get to spend that much time together, but y'know I think it just makes the times we do see each other that much more special. It's like eating super healthy and then that one day you have a chocolate bar you're in heaven! Needless to say I totally like this girl and am excited to see how things go in the future =)
